Richard Eugene Savoie

October 27, 1947 — November 12, 2021

Richard E. Savoie received eternal healing from the Lord, and was taken to dwell in his eternal home on Friday, November 12, 2021.

Richard was born to Victorian Savoie and Georgia Mae Savoie.

Richard was a loving husband to his wife of 37 years; an amazing father to his children; a fun, loving and supportive brother to his siblings; and a kind and loving grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a wonderful uncle, friend, hard- working truck driver and avid Bengals fan!

Richard graduated from Holmes High School, Class of 1966, and attended college at Wright State University. A naval veteran, and a finance officer in his younger days, he pursued his passion for the open road in 1978, when he started his truck driving career with R&L Carriers. He loved driving a truck, he loved his R&L family, and had an amazing driving record. He earned many safety awards, and the 2 million mile award for his service. He was due to retire in December of this year, after 43 years of service. Rich was hardworking, reliable and had a great sense of humor. He was kind, friendly and fun. A dedicated family man, Rich took care of every kid, including his younger siblings, his children, and grandchildren, whenever they were in need. His departure leaves a deep hole in our family; but adds another shining star to the heavenly skies.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Victorian Savoie and Georgia Mae Savoie.
He leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life:
Wife, Elizabeth Joy Savoie; Mother-in-law, Loretta Davis; daughter, Brittany Breisch (Grandbabies Donna (great grandbabies Nathan, Jordan and Trinity), Michael, Hannah (great grandbabies Elle Mae, Levi, Lily and Wyatt) and Sheridan); daughter Loretta (Joshua) Stockton (Grandbabies Scarlett, Silas, Sebastian and Sansa); his son Richard (Brittaney) Savoie (Grandbabies Conner and Ethan); his siblings: Rosalie Fossett; George (Kris) Savoie; Sandra (Jim) Savoie-McDaniel; and Joe Savoie; Sister-in laws Julie Hubeny, Olivia (Joey) Ackerman, Rebecca Palecki, Rachel (Justin) McEldowney; many long term friends, including his R&L "family"; as well as a host of 30+ nieces and nephews who loved and admired him. Richard was well loved and respected. His memory will be forever embedded in our hearts.
