Richard M. Plattner, age 74 of Fairborn, Ohio passed into Heaven on April 11, 2014. Rich graduated from Ambridge Area High School in 1958 and then attended Geneva College before enlisting in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. After his four year enlistment, he then transferred to the Air National Guard. He was employed with the W.T. Grant Company before joining the Williams and Company as a District Sales Representative. Later, he moved to Ohio where he joined the Kettering Fire Department as a volunteer Firefighter and then went on to become Fire Captain until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his father, Matthew Plattner; mother, Marie Plattner (Gust); sister-in-law, Zdena Brigeman; and dedicated service dog, Shadow.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Plattner (Watson); brothers, David (Cindy) Plattner and Kenny Plattner; stepdaughters, Stephanie (Dennis) Sallee; Sarah Dotson (Josh Holland); Grandsons, Dylan, Mason, and Blake; and numerous family members. He will be missed by many dedicated friends, neighbors, and caregivers.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 27th at 2:00 pm at the Byron Church, Fairborn OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SICSA or your local Fire Department.
