Richard J. "Dick" Palmer, Sr. (1SG USA Ret), age 79, born Jan 13, 1932 in Hartford Connecticut, passed away July 1, 2011 in Dayton, Ohio. A career soldier for 20 years and a Veteran of the Korean War. Dick retired from the US Postal Service after 20 years.
He survived by his loving wife, Jean; sons: Joe Ginter of Phoenix, AZ, Jay Ginter of Sidney, OH, Richard Palmer Jr. (Chrissy) of Huber Heights, and Matthew Palmer (Amanda) of Cincinnati; daughters: Mary Dieringer (Thom) of Queen Creek, AZ, Brigid Palmer (Mark) of Bowdoinham, Maine, Felicia Liebert (Joe) of Westby, Wisconsin, Patty Mikal (Keenan) of Riverside, Ohio and Holly James (Jesse) of Vandalia; grandchildren: Damien, Dakota, Brittany, Josh, Zach, Aaron, Keely, Mary, Clare, Teresa, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Brandon, Christopher, Adam, Eve, John and Monica; great grandchildren: Melody, Isabella and Emalee; and special friend, Jerry Furrow.
Dick was past commander of AMVETS Post #46, member of American Legion Post 200, VFW Post 3283, Voiture 34 40/8, Member of Sad Sacks Post 24 and Eagles Post 3491 and life member of AMVETS Post # 464.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the AMVETS Post # 464 will begin the service at 7:30, followed by Chaplain Randy Reed from The Hospice of Dayton.
