NEFF Richard J., 81 of Dayton; passed away Wed. 5/5/04 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Neff; 1 daughter, Maria; 2 brothers, Harry Jr. & Harold (Squirt). Survivors include: his wife of 57 yrs. Martha; 11 children, Patricia (John) Lokai, Barbara Schneider, Richard Jr. (Diane) Neff, John Neff, Frederick (Annie) Neff, James (Kathy) Neff, Thomas (Urana) Neff, Robert Neff, Mary (Scott) Grewe, Johanna (Kirk) Studzinski, Martha Neff & Larry Todd; his mother, Johanna Roselle (Kreutzer) 27 grandchildren; 4 Great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen (Jim) Orf, Phyllis (Wally) Brow, Jean (Lee) Dryman; 1 brother, Jerome (Lois) Roselle; 1 sister-in-law, Shirley Roselle; numerous nieces & nephews; a host of other family & friends. Richard attended Roosevelt High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps at the age of 17. Richard served 6 1/2 yrs., and was a POW for 31/2 yrs. He served in the Philippines and Corregidor, captured by the Japanese on May 6, 1942, ending his service with the Marine Corps as a Sergeant in Feb. of 1946. Richard was also a member of the VFW Post 657, and retired from GM in 1986 after working there for 39 yrs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11 am, Monday 5/10/04 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 140 S. Findlay St. Dayton. Family will receive visitors from 4-8 pm Sunday 5/9/04 at Newcomer Farley Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Christian Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
