Owens, Richard Lee, age 83, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Richard was born May 19, 1929 in St. George, West Virginia to the late Thomas & Elena (Shahan) Owens. Richard was a graduate of Parsons High School in Parsons, West Virginia and he retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Richard is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra (Anthony) Smith & Linda (Mark) Bingman; grandchildren: Christopher Smith, Holly Brannan & Aaron Smith; great grandchildren: Tyler Smith, Jalen Brannan & Brooklynn Brannan; and numerous other family members and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years: Colleen Owens; brothers: Guy & Ralph Owens; and sister: Helen Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio with Pastor Andy Spencer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until time of service.
