Richard Ray Krewson, age 78 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Springfield Masonic Home. He was born December 15, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio the son of Robert and Leonna Krewson.
Richard graduated from Colonel White in 1962. He was an avid train watcher and model railroad collector. He worked at the LM&N Railroad as brakemen and engineer; passing his love of railroading along to his grandsons. He was also a firefighter and EMT for Harrison Township Fire Department, where he served as cadet advisor. He was owner of Kustom Printing, part owner in a pipe organ repair business and retired from Standard Register.
Richard was a member of the Masonic Order of the Masons since 1966 with St. John's Lodge 13; where he was stage committee chairman for 25 plus years, a member of the safety committee and various other positions. There he was granted a Red Hat Meritorious Award. He was also a member of South Park United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the chancel choir and bell choir and on the board of trustees.
Richard was an avid Dayton history buff. Over his lifetime he had 16 dogs and many grand dogs, which he spoiled immensely. He will be remembered for his love of Christmas and playing Santa Claus. He also played Frosty the Snowman for the kids at Dayton Children's and the Dayton Children's Parade for 25 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dogs.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Karen (Scott) Brown; grandchildren, Craig (Lindsey) Lairson and Christopher (Taylor) Lairson; great grandchildren, Annabelle, Noah and Braxton; wife, Barbara Miller Krewson; cousins, Gene Stephenson and family and Ed Yike and family; business partner, Matthew Hunt and many dear church family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to SISCA or the Humane Society of Dayton in Richard's honor.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
