Richard "Dick" Kleismit, age 87 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at VA Hospice of Dayton. He was born in 1929 in Dayton, Ohio.
Richard graduated from Chaminade High School in 1947. He was three years in the Air Force Reserve 162nd Fighter Squadron prior to serving four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War out of Key West Florida Naval Station, and later worked for the U.S. Air Force at Wright Patterson AFB for 42 years. In his Air Force tenure he was instrumental in the design and development of the National Aeronautic Space Plane and several other high profile Air Force projects. Dick loved the outdoors, rock hounding, and enjoyed being with his family. Dick was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, and friend.
Dick leaves behind to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Mary Genevieve Kleismit, sons and daughters, Rick, Sondy, Victoria and Nick; grandchildren , Kurry, Samantha, and Ricky, Steven, Tyler, and Adam great grandchildren; Ebin, Copper, Indika, Matthew, and Abigail and numerous, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 1827 N Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. A celebration of life will conclude at VFW Post #1031-1237 E. Main St., Springfield, OH at 1:30 pm.
