Richard Boyd Irwin

Richard Boyd "Dick" Irwin, age 72 of Vandalia, passed away March 10, 2019. He was born December 15, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Willard and Thelma Irwin. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his aunt, Margie Elliot.

Dick is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Barbara Irwin; children: David Boyd Irwin (Susan), Todd Allen Irwin and Natalie Susanne Emerson (Alex); grandchildren: Kristen, Kaitlyn, Kathryn, Noah, Judah and Annabelle; and brother, Jim Irwin (Gera).

Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Vietnam War, serving from 1968-70. He was a member of First Light Church of Vandalia. Dick worked as a Mechanical Designer for more than 40 years.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 am on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at First Light Church, 140 Elva Court, Vandalia, where the funeral service will begin at 10:00 am. Burial and military honors will follow at Dayton National Cemetery at 11:45 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the VA Hospice, Dayton, Ohio.
