Richard M. Galus, age 86, of Dayton, passed away March 8, 2025. He was born January 12, 1939 in Buffalo, NY.
Richie was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Figlewski; father, Phillip Galus; wife, Eleanor "Susie" Galus; and brother-in-law James P. Waldron.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Susie and Bob Myers; grandchildren: Jacob Myers (Samantha), Benjamin Myers (Morgan) and William Myers (Shanya); great-grandchildren: Mason, Nolan, Jett, Benjin, Shiloh, Charlie Kate, Lyla and Jack; sister-in-laws: Bernie Wagner and Jean Waldron; four nephews and two nieces.
Richie was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He and Susie moved from New York to Ohio to support the family business, The Ivy Lounge. Later, Richie started working for Delphi and retired from GM after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, The Polish Club, and the AmVets Post # 99.
Richie loved watching his grandsons play high school and college football. He enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 14, 2025 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5401 N. Main Street, Dayton, Ohio. Father Tony Fortman, CPPS, Celebrant. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Richie's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
