Rhoda Allen, age 92, of Tipp City, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. She was born on July 23, 1928, in Blake, Kentucky, to the late Ballard and Dova (Fox) Becknell.
Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence of 59 years. Her parents, two brothers and five sisters and three nephews.
She retired from Premiere Rubber in the early 1980s. She was a lifelong member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Owsley County, Kentucky. She loved tending to her beloved flower beds as well as having a vegetable garden. Her greatest hobbies included quilting, working crossword puzzles and watching every murder mystery show on television (lovingly referred to as her death and die shows).
She had two children, Judy (the late David) Adkins of Tipp City, OH and David (Betty) Allen of Huber Heights, OH. She had 4 granddaughters, Kellie Stringer (Chris), Heather Hasty, Christina Allen and Kristin VanderZouwen (Benjamin). She has 12 great grandchildren, Brittney Kammer (Brandon); Brooke Bozarrh, Brandon Bozarth, David Hasty (Bryce), Devin Hasty, Anna Mitman, Johnny Worman, Aliegha Allen, Taylor Beers, Faith VanderZouwen, Asher VanderZouwen, Skyler Martin. She has 9 great great grandchildren, Arabella Matthews, Bentley Matthews, MaKayla Dempsey, Kayden Larsen, Kingston Matthews, Karter Larsen, Kinsley Larsen, Wylie Martin and Ayden Bozarth. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm- 1:30pm, on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where services will begin at 1:30 pm with Ben VanderZouwen and Matthew Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Willow View Cemetery.
