Rev. James Robert "Bob" Banks, 91, of Lebanon, passed away on July 17, 2019 at Atrium Medical Center.
He was born on March 14, 1928 to the late James and Nancy (Eversole) Banks in Franklin, OH.
Bob was a US Marine Corps WWII Veteran.
He was ordained as a minister April 28, 1968 and retired from the ministry in July 1995. During his career as a minister, Bob served as the pastor of Zion Missionary Baptist Church for 15 years and was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, both in Franklin, OH.
Bob worked as a skilled machinist for various manufacturing businesses.
On August 12, 1949, he married Bennie Mae Banks (Wilmath).
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 69 years and 11 months, Bennie; children, Jennifer (Brion) Haynes, Robert Stephen Banks, Craig D. Banks, David Eric (Bonita) Banks, and Melissa Gayle (Tony) Everidge; grandchildren, Erin Melissa Haynes, Tyler Wayne Everidge, Ryan Anthony Everidge, Lindsey Taylor Everidge, and Jared Robert Everidge; siblings, Mary Catherine "Duce" Mullins, Gerald Wayne (Jeanne Webster) Banks, John David "Dave" (Shirley) Banks, Wanda Jean "Kitty" Beldon, and Joseph Grant (Debbie) Banks; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Virgie Worrell and Dortha Haag.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 5 to 8 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 10 am at Newcomer Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, OH, 45439), with Pastor Tony Everidge officiating.
Interment immediately after at Springboro Cemetery.
