JOHNSON, Rev. Elden William "Bill" age 69 passed away Friday, September 16, 2005 at his home surrounded by family and friends. A native of Council, VA and a resident of Riverside for 49 years. Elden was retired from Harris Thomas Drop Forge CO and an avid worker for the Lord. He was saved and baptized at Carlisle Freewill Baptist Church in 1969 and became ordained as a deacon on September 9, 1973; licensed to preach the gospel on October 21, 1978. He became the Sunday School Superintendent and received an recognition award for years of distinguished service May of 1979. Dedicated to God and His Word, pastored at several baptist churches and preached the Word throughout the state. He is preceded in death by his parents Ezra William Johnson and Mary Ann Ball Johnson; siblings Gillmer Johnson, Trula Lowe, Lovis Whitt and Wilmer Johnson. Survived by siblings Robert A. Johnson, Dewey Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Beulah Whitt, Fonnie Baldwin and Wanda Lee Johnson. Bill leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 48 years, Mattie L. Johnson; children William Mark Johnson (Tammy), Angela R. Johnson and Jennifer K. Hudson (Gregory); grandchildren Mark, Eric and Tiffany Johnson, Amanda Bowling, Jonathan and Sierra Hudson; great grandchildren Destiny, Raianna, Mark Jr. and Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Fairborn Enterprises Baptist Church 1614 Stewart Blvd., with Rev. Garnet Mullins officiating.
