Reuben Caudill, age 87, son of the late George Matt Caudill and Alice Fields Caudill, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2010. He was born in Blackey, in Letcher County, Kentucky on December 2, 1922. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Beckham Caudill, John Caudill and James Caudill; his sister Alta Stamper; and his loving wife Gladys Anderson Caudill. He is survived by three sisters, Julia Powers, Rebexie (and Earl) Benton and Irene (and Victor) Bishop; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Brenda Caudill, and Gregory and Carol Caudill; six grandchildren, Benjamin (and Deanna) Caudill, Patrick Caudill, Chris (and Briget) Caudill, David Caudill, Michelle Caudill and John Caudill, and Katie Gebhart who was like another granddaughter; and four great grandchildren, Bryce Caudill, Lauren Caudill, Corbin Caudill and Logan Caudill; and by many other friends and relatives, including Rebecca Gebhart and Peggy Caudill.
He proudly served in the United States Army in North Africa and Europe in World War Two, and he was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dayton. He loved farming and animals, and often kept a small garden after moving to Ohio. Will Rogers once said, "I never met a man I didn't like." Reuben embodied the spirit of that statement, and nobody ever met him who didn't like him, too. He was the nicest man any of us has known and he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, before the funeral services. Burial will be in the Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, Ohio.
