Hoffman, Reuben C., age 91, of Dayton, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. Reuben was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving during WWII. He retired from the City of Dayton Parks and Recreation Department, was a member of the YMCA for over 50 years, and a long time member of First Lutheran Church.
Reuben is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 56 years: Roselie (Bennett) Hoffman; daughters: Linda Collins of Virginia, Roseann Chamberlin of West Virginia; son: David Hoffman of Dayton; grandchildren: Bill, Matthew, Sarah, Aaron, Joshua, Elisha; great grandchildren: Karys, Caleb, Braden; sisters-in-law: Lillian Kothman of Xenia, Kathryn Compston of Springfield; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Charles & Eleanor Bennett of Bellbrook; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Johanna (Schmidt) Hoffman and his sister: Esther Luelleman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering with Reverend Russell Morgan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
