Renee Philpot, age 61, of Columbus, transitioned to heaven on August 29, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joe L. and Shirley D. Philpot. Renee was preceded in death by her sister, Tamara Philpot; father, Joe L. Philpot; nephew, Corey Talmadge; and her furry babies: Uzie, Bullet, Magnum, Lady Diamond and Lady Laila.
Renee graduated with honors from South High School, Cleveland, Ohio being a member of the National Honor Society. She went on to The Ohio State University where she graduated with a degree in Nursing. Renee exhibited love and compassion in the nursing field. She served at St. Anne's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio for over 20 years. Renee was also a licensed realtor.
Renee became a believer early in life. She attended church until she was physically unable to do so.
She loved spending time with her family, traveling extensively with her grandchildren and close family. As a devoted Michael Jackson fan, she attended his concerts, owned every recording he made, and sang and danced to his music.
Renee will be remembered by her children: Natalia Renee Philpot and Jaavon Antares Taborn Philpot; mother, Shirley D. Philpot; grandchildren: Aaliyah Renee Philpot and Selina Renee Philpot; siblings: Denish Evans, Haleem Abdu, Kimberly (Gayle) Berry, and Michele Perry; nephews: Jeremy (Katy) Evans, Jonathan (Chelsea) Evans, Meaghan Berry, Reuben Perry III, Kamilah Abdu, Haleem Abdu Jr., Jaiden Harris, and Reuben Perry IV; special friend, Peggy; and many extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00pm, officiated by Bishop Truman L. Martin. Following the service, Renee will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Cemetery in Piqua, Ohio.
