Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Cochran, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023 at Grandview Hospital. She was a resident of Vandalia, OH.
Born on October 21, 1949 in Seymour, IN to Paul L. and Lorene A. (Baker) Hyden, she moved to New Carlisle, OH in 1962, and graduated in 1967 from Tecumseh High School. She spent her early childhood running through rows of corn and playing in the woods. As a teenager, she knew both the kinship and conflict of living in a small home with many siblings – siblings that later gathered with their families at holidays consistently for decades on end.
Becky retired from Pave Technology Co, in Dayton, OH in 2021 after more than 15 years of service. Her coworkers called her "Flash", even as they would patiently help her make her way between her car and the building. Despite her slow pace, she was very rarely late, always waking up hours before needing to leave for work. As assemblers go, she was among the best.
Her active compassion for others was known by many, as was her low tolerance for "nonsense". She was naturally kind and considerate, but fully capable of being fierce when needed. She adored her grandchildren, enjoyed a good game of Solitaire while listening to classical music, and hated scary or violent movies. Most importantly, Jesus was at the very center of Becky's life, and He made all the difference.
She is survived by her sons Bob (Ana) Cochran of Troy and Shane Cochran of Vandalia, siblings Richard, Janice, Don, and Marilyn, granddaughters Clementine, June and Ivy, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Paul and Lorene and brothers Joe and Butch.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm with services immediately following, all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424.
