Readith Young

April 16, 1931 — February 12, 2018

Readith Young was born on April 16, 1931 in Hazard, Kentucky. His childhood was spent helping his parents and siblings work the family farm. They raised and grew on the farm almost everything they needed to have a very good family life. Being the youngest of the children he also helped with many of the household chores and knew his way around the kitchen.

In this youth he enjoyed hunting with his cousins for small game in the hills around the farm. Later he gained a love for music and would go with his brother and cousin to other neighbor's homes to listen to The Grand Ole Opry on the radio. Around this time he learned to play the guitar.
As a young adult he worked in the logging mines around the communities but soon realized that was not his interest.

He moved to Dayton, Ohio after seeing an advertisement in the post office for workers at the G.M. plants. He applied, was hired, and retired after 36 years of service. He always said he really enjoyed the work and working there. After retirement he spent 2 or 3 years around the house making improvements and realized he missed and enjoyed working. One day while he and mom were shopping at Odd Lots the manager offered him a part time job. He accepted and retired a second time after 10 years.

Upon arriving in Dayton, he met Juanita, the future Mrs. Young. Over the years their family was very active in church. Dad would play the guitar and lead the music and mom taught youth and ladies Sunday school classes. This strong work ethic and love of God and family is the legacy they have passed to the children and grandchildren today.

Readith was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus and Lousia Caudill Young; three brothers, Nicodemus Young, Delza Young and David Young; and three sisters, Mayme Engle, Vaudia Combs and Ona Whitaker. Readith will be missed by his loving wife, Juanita Shelton Young; one son, Ricky (Pamela) Young; one daughter, Teresa (Ron) Smith; three grandsons, Dustin (Jennifer) Smith, Adrian (Stacy) Young and Aaron (Leslie) Young; and four great grandchildren, Ricky, Emma, Estella and Emilia.

Family will receive friends Friday, February 16, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the Greenview Calvary Tabernacle Church, 8010 N.
