SALYER, Raymond Paul, age 72, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Normal and Hazel (Rigsby) Salyer; first wife, Janet (Betty) Salyer; second wife, Connie (Dennin) Salyer; son, Ted Salyer; brothers, Thomas and Normal, Jr. Salyer; sister, Joyce Salyer Wilmeth, as well as several nieces and nephews. Raymond is survived by his children, Tim and Randy Salyer of Springfield, Trent Chess of Urbana; brothers, Donald (Diane) of San Jose, James (Shirley) of Cable, and Roger (Naomi) Salyer of Urbana; sisters, Dorothy Moore of Springfield, Janet (Dale) Longsworth of Marysville, Mary Douglas of Springfield, and Hazel (Jeff) Heath of Xenia; special friend, Sylvia Carr, and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the Army National Guard. Raymond enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and was a friendly person who never met a stranger. No matter what life threw at him, he always had a smile on his face. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the funeral home.
