Raymond Joel Behnken, age 94, of Washington Township, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 at home with loving family and Hospice. He was born June 8, 1915 to the late Dietrich and Clara Wogaman Behnken. Raymond graduated in 1934 from Roosevelt H. S. where he enjoyed and excelled in many sports. Baseball always remained his favorite and provided T.V. entertainment in his declining years. Ray was a draftsman-designer for 46 ½ years at G.M. Inland. Over the years he became affectionately known as "Tex". Dear Sister Pearly Negangard preceded him in death; as well as his loved brothers, Henry, Clarence, Herbert, Wilbert, Roy and Albert. Beloved sister Alberta Kreitzer survives Raymond. He is survived by Betty (Stocksdale) Behnken, his beloved devoted wife. Loving family; daughters, Geraldine (Jack) Mobley, Karen (Don) Carney and Janet Chandler and son, Stephen (Sharon) Stocksdale. He loved and enjoyed numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was especially proud of the great-great-grandchildren making five generations. Raymond's family would like to thank the Alzheimer's Association, Grace Hospice and his many wonderful loving caregivers; especially Velma Barber from the Alzheimer's Association who provided guidance in finding said caregivers including: Mary Borger and Rose Hoey, as well as Bonnie Simpson, Jean Stacy and Cheryl Woods from Hospice. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10-11am at Newcomer Funeral Home Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, in West Alexandria. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Grace Hospice.
