Gimmey, Raymond J., age 83, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Miami Valley Hospital.
On October 7, 1932, he was born in Ann Arbor, MI and was raised there until he was in the 7th grade, at which time his family moved to Chelsea, MI. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War; and was a BSEE graduate of Michigan Technological University, Class of 1960. He worked for different companies in CA and OH and retired from M.T.C. in Dayton, OH after 43 years as an electrical/software engineer. During his career, he assisted in the design of the guidance system on the F16, AC130 Gunship, and the B1 Bomber.
He was married to Mary A. (Osher) Gimmey for 43 years, who preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Ida (Oja) Gimmey; father, Raymond Conrad Gimmey; step-mother, Jennie Gimmey; his son, Stephen Gimmey; and a sister, Sandra Bradbury.
He is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Chris) Cox; granddaughters, Stacy Gimmey, and Crystal (Cox) Turner; step-children, Nancy Templeton, John (Melissa) Flaim, and Sharon (Kenny) Fultz; 7 step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Raymond was an avid snow skier, and also enjoyed water skiing, travelling, scuba diving, and astrology. He will be greatly missed.
