Raymond V. Deck, age 86, of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2021.
He was born May 28, 1934, in Dayton, to Charles C. and Hattie M. Deck.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shelby Jean (Perkins) Deck; sisters, Erma Fread and Shirley Perkins; children, Denise (Randy) Chestnut and Mark (Audrey) Deck; grandchildren, Luke Chestnut, Sarah Hatfield, Morgan Deck, Melissa Walden (Jeff), Molly Deck and Macey Deck; great-grandchildren, Myah Chestnut, Jackson Hatfield, Landon Thompson, Alaya Wise and Weston Walden. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Deck and David Deck; sisters, Pauline Thomas, Doris Shade, Helen Steele and Mary Fletcher.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church. He served as a lay preacher for many years, and loved to sing about Jesus with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH, with Rev. Randy Chestnut officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Masks will be required while inside the funeral home.
