Ray E. Deem, affectionately known as "Peanuts," passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in New Vienna, Ohio, at the age of 92. Born on October 7, 1932, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Ray was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a dedicated provider for his family.

Ray's journey began in a humble setting, and throughout his life, he exemplified hard work and dedication. He proudly served his country, retiring as a Sergeant First Class from the United States Army. His military service saw him deployed during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, alongside assignments in Germany and Japan during the occupation. His commitment to his family and his country were hallmark traits that defined him.

Ray was a man of many interests and hobbies; he loved to travel extensively, exploring every state in the United States, with driving up to Alaska standing out as one of his favorite adventures. He delighted in simple pleasures, such as going for walks. Ray had a fondness for playing cards, particularly spider solitaire on his computer, and he enjoyed the soothing sounds of his 6-sided harmonica.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Clara Deem; children: Mitchell (Vicki) Deem, Robert Deem, Barbara (Brent) Cook, Patricia (Jerry) Mentzel, and Richard (Cindy) Deem. Ray’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Katherine Ann, David, Sherry, Mickey, Robert, Christopher, Justin, Christina, Steven, Bryan, Kimberly, David, Tiffany, Larry, Dale, Jessica, Ashley, and Richard. Additionally, he cherished his numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who brought joy and light into his life.

Ray is also remembered by his best friend, John Placzkowski, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, who will miss him dearly.

He joins in eternal rest his beloved wife and mother to his children, Mary Ann Deem; his parents, Tasvill and Mary Deem; his siblings: Coy Jaggers, Cleo Jaggers, Lois Lindsey, Richard Deem, Alice Lauther, and his infant twin sister, Blanch; his daughter-in-law, Janet Deem; and his grandchildren, Ryan and Brooklyn.

Ray E. Deem was a remarkable individual whose impact on the lives of those around him will be remembered fondly. His spirit of kindness, dedication to family, and love for adventure will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00am, Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Following the service, Ray will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.

Ray E. Deem, conocido cariñosamente como "Peanuts", falleció pacíficamente el 15 de enero de 2025 en New Vienna, Ohio, a la edad de 92 años. Nacido el 7 de octubre de 1932 en Parkersburg, Virginia Occidental, Ray era un amoroso esposo, un padre maravilloso y un proveedor dedicado para su familia.
