Ray A. Byrd

February 26, 1947 — October 8, 2023

Ray A. Byrd, age 76, of Kettering, passed away on October 8, 2023, at Kettering Memorial Hospital. He was born in Harlan, Kentucky, on February 26, 1947, the son of the late Isaac and Ida Bryant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter-in-law, Virginia Byrd.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Miranda (Brad) Shroyer of Beavercreek; son, Eric Byrd of Kettering; grandchildren, Brent and Carson Shroyer; sister, Patty (Steve) Neisley; close extended family, Tonya, Tammi, Josh, Jake, Kayla and Lisa; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Ray served his country proudly by serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching the Cincinnati Reds, cheering on the Dayton Flyers Basketball team and spending time with his grandsons. He had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of his Life will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm, on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Mary Irene Gardens in Kettering, for the wonderful care and friendship given to Ray.
