Randall L. "Randy" Green, 70, died September 1, 2023, with family at his side.
Randy was born September 3, 1952, in Lafayette, IN to Russell and Alice Green.
Randy is survived by his wife of 36 years, Teresa (Wonderleigh); his granddaughter, Victoria Parkes; his sister, Connie (Glenn) Miles; and nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Matthew Parkes.
Randy graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1970. In 1975, Randy received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (with honors) from the University of Cincinnati. He proceeded to have a long, illustrious career in the automotive industry, specializing in brake hose. Randy was widely recognized as an expert in his field and received many awards and accolades, including a US Patent award in August 1995 for development of a "new, improved construction of brake hose." He also earned a Journeyman Certification in Statistical Engineering. Randy never rested on his laurels and never stopped learning or looking for new and better ways to support his product or his team.
Randy valued education and took great pride in the year he learned to be a substitute teacher at Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
Randy was a unique person - he will be remembered for a keen intellect that was matched by his quick wit. He placed a high value on honesty and integrity and was a loyal and selfless friend. He treated everyone with respect and kindness.
He was an organ donor, and his corneal tissue will be used to facilitate research on corneal transplants.
Randy was a gifted pianist. He loved his piano and said it was more an appendage than an instrument.
Randy was a science fiction buff and an avid sports fan. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. He was an animal lover who adored and spoiled every canine and feline family member. He enjoyed watching "our" birds, especially jays and woodpeckers, and kept the feeders full year-round. He loved to play golf with Teresa and cherished their vacations at the beach.
Randy will be sadly missed, and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to an animal rescue organization or your favorite charity.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
