Ramon L. Blacklock
Age 73, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
Ramon was born July 14, 1938 to Orla Ray & Dadia Theo (Robertson) Blacklock in Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elisabeth Blacklock in 1997.
Ramon is survived by his wife of the past 49+ years, Barbara L. (Nelson) Blacklock; one son, David Joseph Blacklock; two granddaughters, Latasha A. Foster & Jasmine M. Foster; one brother, Owen E. & his wife, Dee Blacklock; and by his extended family & many good friends.
Ramon was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years and during all those years he sang in the choir. Some of his other activities and memberships at the church include: leading the Junior High Youth, a member of the Administrative Board for over 30 years, member of the Worship & Mission Teams, and he was a charter member & Program Director of the Men's Prayer Breakfast group for 30 years.
Ramon was a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Chorus and the Dayton Philharmonic Docents.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville), he retired in 2001 with 40 years of service at Wright-Patterson AFB as a civilian Electronics Engineer. Most of that time he worked in the design & testing of support equipment for military aircraft (B-1 SPO).
After his retirement he worked as a consultant for MacAulay-Brown Inc.
A Celebration of Ramon's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday (12/17) at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd, Dayton, Ohio 45406, Senior Pastor Sherry Gale will officiate. The family will be receiving friends following the service in the Church Parlor.
Ramon's final resting place will be in the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum with his mother and daughter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Ramon to the Grace UMC Memorial Fund or the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus.
