On October 4, 2022, Ralph Wilson, a fine Christian man, at age 91 years, 8 months, 5 days, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side, and daughter, son-in-law and grandson close by, to enter the gates of Heaven, into the arms of our Heavenly Father. He was born January 29, 1931, in Welchberg, Jackson County, KY, to the late Alfred and Hettie (Bond) Wilson.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany with the Tank Battalion. Upon his discharge he served in the Army Reserves. He worked at Frigidaire (later General Motors) and retired after 30 years from the Harrison Radiator Division. After retirement, Ralph became known around town as "the watermelon man". He spent years hauling melons from Florida, Georgia and Indiana to area grocers as well as having them available for local residents. After his wife's retirement they became Florida snowbirds before settling year round in Lake Wales, FL, for nearly 20 years enjoying fishing, visiting and fellowship with friends and family before moving back to Miamisburg. He never met a stranger and loved to just sit and talk. His grandchildren and great grandchildren lit up his world.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife Geneva (Fields), daughter Sandra Saunders and husband Ron of Miamisburg, son Marc Wilson of Parrish, FL, daughter-in-law Melissa Wilson of Miamisbiurg, one sister Grace Vaughn and husband Jim of West Chester, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: Son (Ralph) Dean, granddaughter Jennifer Wilson, daughter-in-law Debbie (Rhodes) Wilson; 2 sisters, Beulah Ward and Reba Robbins; 5 brothers, Birchel, Harvey (HT), Alfred Jr. (Junior), David and Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Newcomer Centerville Chapel. Family will receive visitors beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Miamisburg following funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
Hospice of Dayton.
