Ralph S. Wakefield, age 83 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born June 28, 1936 in Harriman, Tennessee to the late Sim Wakefield and Dorothy (Isham) Wakefield.
Ralph retired from Dayton Reliable after over 25 years. He was a musician who could pick up anything and play it. He enjoyed playing music with his brother, Frank at family picnic's with his family close by. Ralph also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Dickey; grandson, Jacob Shepherd; sisters, Ruth, Opal, Evelyn, Marlene, Jean and Barbara.
Ralph will be missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Stella; Elaine (Roy) Young, Debra Cregar, Terry Wakefield, Tamara (Timothy Knecht) Knox, Clayton Howard and Kimberly Gibbs; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren; brother, Frank Wakefield and sister, Sue and her husband, Don Norton.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Pastor William Loudermilk, officiating and Linda Murphy, soloist. Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
