Ralph Smiley

Ralph Smiley, age 87, of New Lebanon, Ohio Born June 30, 1926 in Bobtown, KY to the late Bill & Cora Smiley.
He departed on October 29, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the New Lebanon Rehab Center. Ralph is survived by his companion, Barbara Robards; children, Butch Smiley of TN, Jim Smiley of TN and Opal June of TX; step-children, Dora Morgan of KY, Peggy White of OH and David White of OH; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan Moorefield of Somerset, KY, Betty Caraway of Indianapolis, IN and Grace Beigley of KY; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends including Bill Myers and Gary Winget.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Paralee, Jean, Jim, Opal, Keith, Ronnie and a daughter, Darlene Smiley.
Ralph joined the Navy in 1945 as a Seamon first class until 1945. Ralph enjoyed playing country/gospel music. He retired from Dayton Press in Dayton, OH after 35 years of service.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 5-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, OH.
