Nickels, Ralph "Nick", 83 accompanied by his family throughout his illness, passed away Saturday evening at Bethany Lutheran Village in Centerville OH. Nick was a resident of Huber Heights for most of his life. He was a retired truck driver from Interstate Motor Lines and a member of Teamsters Local 957. Nick was also a member of Huber Heights Fraternal order Eagles #3958, American Veterans Post 464 and American Legion Post 200 for 15 years. Nick was also a regular Blood Donor.
Until recently Nick was an avid bowler, golfer, and dedicated Atlanta Braves fan. He participated in 2 senior and one mixed bowling league at Marion Lanes. When he wasn't bowling he was golfing. Nick has been a season golf pass holder for several years at Kitty Hawk Golf Course.
Nick reared four sons he was very proud of and is survived by: Steven (Cindy), Brad (Donna), Brent (Julie), and Matthew Nickels. Nicks pride was also reflected in his grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Nickels and special granddaughter Katie Ochs.
He is preceded in death by the children's Mother Joy Nickels (1974), His mother Leah Nickels; father Joseph H. Nickels Sr., and sister, Doris James of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brothers Joseph (Bud) H. Nickels Jr.of Mountain View, CA and Brother Robert Nickels of Irvington, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home (North Chapel) 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton with Pastor Aaron Deal officiating. Interment will follow the services at Davids Cemetery in Kettering. The family will receive friends at the funeal home on Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
