Ralph D. G. Pudsey
Age 90, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2009, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Coventry, England. Ralph was assigned to Dayton, Ohio, as civilian technical advisor to the British Royal Air Force during 1942 through V-E Day 1945. He returned on an immigrant visa in 1948 and continued friendships with his "YMCA Outdoor Hiking Club" members. He formed "Pudsey Home Construction" and later operated "Mend, Inc." until his retirement. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helene Hopkins, Gertrude "Tommy" Miller and Noreen Street; and by three brothers, Dennis, Gerald and Tony. Ralph is survived by Martha, his wife of 60 years; daughter & son-in-law, Rita & David Wilson of Carmel, IN; niece, Ivy Lessner & her husband, Patrick Geddes of Mill Valley, CA; niece, Mary & her husband, Steve Williams of Novi, MI; sisters, Kathleen & Alan Grossart of Sutton, Coldfield, Sheila & Brian Lidster of Braithwell, Rotherham; brother-in-law, Brian Street of Worthing, West Sussex; sisters & brothers-in-law, Olga Nave of Rockford, OH, Lewis Merkle & his wife Jennie of Montazuma, OH, Margaret Baker of Van Wert, OH, David Merkle & his wife, Barbra of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. Ralph donated his body to science. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 22, at 1:30 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio. Pastor Sherry Gale will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Ralph to Hospice of Dayton or Grace United Methodist Church, Dayton.
