Prevella M. Long, 93 of Dayton passed away on June 18, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Short Long and Rosetta Jones.
Our Mother loved to go to the farm and pick greens and she loved gardening and baking. Prevella was known for her Pound Cakes and Sweet Potato Pie.
She was born in Bessemer, Alabama and moved to Chicago in 1945, where she went to work for the 3M Company until 1963. She then moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1965 and started work at Rikes, as a cook until 1972.
In addition to her parents, Prevella was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Lula Mae Speights and Marion Moore. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, John Long of Springfield, Ohio; two daughters, Verna Payne of Chicago and Debra Long of Dayton; her 9 grandchildren, Michael Payne who preceded her in death, Carol, Darryl, Clinice, LeRoy and Tracey (Shataka) of Houston, Texas, Michael Kenneth Long, Jermaine LuShun Long, and Matthew Adam Long all of Dayton, Ohio; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a very special granddaughter, Bobette Baber; a special niece, Kathy Bolds; special family friend, Andrea Cunigan.
