Phyllis J Smith

Phyllis J. Smith, age 62, of Huber Heights, passed away on November 10, 2018. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 1, 1956 to proud parents Patricia Folley and the late, Sylvester Hopson.

Phyllis attended Roosevelt High School and went on to become an operator engineer for Ohio Operator Engineers. She was a hard worker and passed that trait along to her children and grandchildren. Phyllis took great pride in her family. She loved to attend her children and grandchildren's school events. Phyllis loved to spend time with her family and share family meals with them.

Phyllis married James "Smitty" Smith in 1993. The two shared many years together. Phyllis was a loving, caring, and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester Hopson; husband, James "Smitty" Smith; sister, Joyce Maupin; and brothers, Emmett Folley, Sr., David Hopson, and Johnny Folley.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, children, Patricia (Adrion) Hawes, Carla (Jack)Johnson, and Robert Folley; mother, Patricia Folley; sisters, Marsha (Willie) Cowan, Sheila (Edward "Doc") Hayes, and Cynthia Hopson; brothers, Thomas Folley and Terry Williams; grandchildren, Erick (Jacqueline) Lovett, De'vion Lovett, Rohsaun Wesson, Jr., Hailee Gaines, Jax Johnson, Jayden Johnson, Nyilah Folley, Kendall Folley, and Kaylee Folley; and one great-grandchild on the way; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm.
