Phyllis J. Kidwell, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 90, of West Carrollton, passed away December 18, 2022.
She was born June 11, 1932 in Middletown, Ohio to the late Roy White and Elizabeth Marie (Clevenger) Kidwell.
During her career, Phyllis enjoyed working at the cosmetic counter in Gimballs Department Store while living in New York, at Rike's Department Store at the Dayton Mall, and driving a school bus for Dayton Public Schools.
Phyllis loved living at Canterbury Court for more than 30 years and enjoyed making many friends there. She was very involved with the Canterbury community and their many activities, such as Bingo, the Red Hat Society as well as the Arts and Crafts programs. Phyllis was also known for her green thumb and beautiful garden at Canterbury as well as being involved with the Wellness Committee.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Scarlett Long and Cynthia (Rich) Roberts, along with her grandchildren, Casey T. Roberts, and Melanie Melton; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson, and her many Canterbury Court friends.
Phyllis' life centered around her family. She especially enjoyed family vacations and drives as well as shopping excursions with her daughter Cynthia which included lunch, and hair and nail pampering. Known affectionately as "Grandma Honey" to her grandchildren, Phyllis will be remembered for her loving and sweet nature, as well as her yearly singing of "Happy Birthday" on everyone's special day. She will also be remembered for her beautiful and vibrant blue eyes along with the twinkle in them when she would loving joke and tease. Phyllis excelled at making her family and friends feel loved and special, had a kind word for everyone and enjoyed "doing" for others.
She was cherished by her family and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 4:00 pm until time of service at 5:30 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., with Pastor Pete Kreamer officiating.
