Phyllis J. Burks, age 77 of Dayton, passed away June 23, 2016. She was born December 17, 1938 in Wilder, TN to the late Joseph and Ona Davis. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Burks; son, Michael Burks; and brothers: Tony and Terry Davis.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters: Regina Scholz and Angela Burks; grandchildren: Julie (Robert) Hargis, Benjamin (Mari) Wildenhaus, Thomas Wildenhaus and Ariannah McFarland; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Allie, Blake, Jade, Abrahm, Kenzo and Tristan; brothers: Don (Susan) Davis and Harry (Sandy) Davis; sisters: Diane (Gary) McElhiney and Cindy (James) Huff; brother-in-law, Charles (Rena) Burks; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A special thanks to Pam McFarland and to the staff at St. Leonard's for their loving care. Phyllis loved to bake, cook and do crafts, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery.
