Phyllis J. Abbott, "PJ," age 82 of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024. She was born October 4, 1941 in Cob Hill, Kentucky the daughter the late Mace and Lillie Hall.
Phyllis retired from Macy's after 27 years of employment. She loved music, specifically bluegrass and played many instruments - she was amazing on the guitar, mandolin, and bass guitar. She was the lead singer of PJ & Showtime, her own personal bluegrass band. She enjoyed painting, going bowling and mushroom hunting, and she always took great care of her yard, making sure to decorate for all holidays. Phyllis loved being in the kitchen and some of her signatures dishes that everyone remembers are her coleslaw, peanut brittle, and Santa Claus cookies. Phyllis was selfless and compassionate in nature, always taking care of others. Most importantly, she loved her family and she loved God.
Phyllis "PJ" is survived by her daughter, Vickie L. (Todd) Tangeman; grandchildren, Amanda (Anthony) Buckingham and Cody (Taylor) Tangeman; great-grandchildren, Carson and Mason Buckingham, and Elijah and Emrik Tangeman; brother, Gene (Cathy) Hall; boyfriend, Bill Williams; step-grandchildren, Scott Philhower (Nancy) and Jordan Tangeman (Kelli); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Abbott; son, Randall E. Abbott; and her seven siblings, Zetta, Hazel, Vivian, Hobert, Ray, Ida, and Wilma.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest with her late husband at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
