Phuoc V. Ly, of Beavercreek, Ohio passed away on 10/8/2014 at home after an extended illness.
Family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home on Dayton-Xenia Rd. on Sunday 10/12/14 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 10/13/2014 at 10:00am at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
Phuoc was born in Canton, China as the youngest of 11 children on November 9, 1935. He and his family moved to Vietnam when he was very young. He went to university in Taiwan where he earned a degree in Accounting, and he then returned to Vietnam where he met and married Phi Giang. They were married on 6/2/1966 and ran a successful business together while starting their family. The family left Vietnam in 1979 after the war and were considered refugees until they came to the United States with the help of the parishioners from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dayton. He went on to work for Heider's Cleaners in Kettering for many years before retiring in 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phi Giang Ly on 9/10/2005.
Phuoc is survived by his children: James V. Ly (Cathy) of Vandalia, Daniel Q. Ly (Erin) of Clayton, OH, Theresa Ly Hehemann (Matthew) of Grand Junction, CO, Eileen Ly Dean (Jacob) of Enon, OH, Maureen Ly Mathews (Michael) of Beavercreek, OH, and Katie (Catherine) Ly Krueger (Robert) of Chicago, IL. He also leaves behind his grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Jacob and Jesse Ly, Kira Ly, Ava, Madison, Ella, and Dylan Hehemann, Aden, Ethan and Ian Dean, Connor and Zachary Mathews, and last but not least Emmett (Emmy) Krueger.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Phuoc's name to Hospice of Dayton.
