Phillip Shafer, born on October 14, 1941, passed away on November 29, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love. Phillip retired after a 30-year career from the Miami County Sheriff's Office, where he served with honor and commitment to his community. His passion for public service was matched only by his dedication to his family, with whom he cherished every moment.
Phillip's life was enriched by various hobbies and interests, notably his love for spending time with his family and his dogs. This fondness for companionship exemplified his warm and nurturing spirit, which will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Shafer, and his beloved children: Mark (Maggie) Shafer, Ken (Ginny) Craft, Jodie (Steve) Hineman, Wendy (Doug) Wilson, and Jeff (Erika) Wilson. Also left to cherish his memory are 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. Phillip’s bond with his sisters, Judy (Bill) Rizzo and Jane Brown and his numerous nieces and nephews, further emphasized the strong family ties that were central to his existence.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Karl Shafer.
As we remember Phillip Shafer, let us celebrate a man who not only dedicated his life to serving others but also treasured the moments spent with his loved ones. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
