Pearl Ann Shropshire, age 74, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday April 13, 2024, at Hospice of Dayton after a long battle with cancer.
Born in 1949, in Louisville, KY to Lee and Louise Miller, she moved with her parents and younger sister, Nancy, to Dayton, OH in 1954, and although she loved and remained in Ohio, she always considered Kentucky home due to the many aunts, uncles, and cousins living there that she loved so dearly. Ann attended Stivers High School in Dayton where she earned the nickname "Sweet Pea" and was a very vocal advocate for the school and alumni association, Go Tigers! She was also a loud and proud member of the Heifers. These amazing women were lifelong friends of Ann, whom she always said were the most extraordinary group of women she has ever had the blessing to know and love.
Ann was an avid animal lover, excellent storyteller, and lived by her philosophy of there are no strangers, only people you haven't met yet.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Louise Miller, sister Emily "Lucky" Carey, husband Jack Shropshire. She is survived by sister Nancy Martin (Val Kops); daughter Amber Shropshire (Shawn Huey); grandchildren who were the light of her world, Connor and Michaela.
The family will receive friends at Newcomer Centerville Chapel, located at 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, from 10 am -12 pm, with funeral service beginning 12 pm. Interment at Woodland cemetery.
Ann shared a very special bond with her grandson Connor. Known to him as Mawmaw, she wanted more than anything to be here to watch him follow his college dreams and was his loudest cheerleader. In lieu of flowers, she wished for donations to be made his college fund. If desired, you may click on this link to donate:
