Pauline Owens

August 10, 1933 — April 19, 2019

Audra Pauline Owens, age 85 of Clearcreek Township, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. She was born August 10, 1933 in Speedwell, Tennessee to the late Lauda and Matilda (Smith) Braden.

Pauline's beloved husband of 69 years, Marshall Owens, preceded her in death on April 10, 2019. Death could only separate them nine days. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Braden.

Pauline is survived by children, Larry (Debbie) Owens, Kimberly (Jim) Combs and Tina (Tim) Partin; grandchildren, Phillip (Trista) Owens, Nicole Owens, Jesse Combs and Hannah (Chet) Ozmun; great grandson, Elliot; siblings, Lorraine Monday and Jimmie Edwards; dear neighbors, Barb, Rob and Cheryl as well as numerous extended family and many friends.

Pauline grew up on a small farm in Tennessee. Pauline developed a strong work ethic from her parents and her grandparents, Isaac and Lillie Braden. She had many fond memories growing up in her grandparents' house. Pauline married at an early age and moved to Dayton, Ohio. Her employment included Woolworth and Kresge Department Stores in Dayton, Miami Valley Hospital payroll department and finally Elder-Beerman store in Centerville where she worked 42 years before retiring. As a young adult, Pauline gave her life to the Lord and faithfully served Him all her adult life. She liked children of all ages and served as a Sunday School, Training Union and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years in her church. More recently, she served as a greeter and worked preparing food for the Wednesday night church suppers. Pauline learned to cook from her grandmother and had the gift of hospitality. Besides her love of cooking and baking, she was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed the flowers and vegetables from her garden. Pauline treasured time spent with her family and adored her grandchildren. Pauline was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. "Her children rise up and call her blessed."
