Paula Marie Brandenburg, age 54 of Miamisburg, passed peacefully Monday, July 24, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born August 16, 1968 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Willus and Mary Brandenburg.
Paula is survived by her three sisters, Deborah (Daniel) Deeter, Judy (Matt) Rabold, and Karen Townsend; special friend, Luella Walker; and two beloved baby pups, Piper and Oliver. She is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Paula was a phenomenal nurse, dog mom, sister, and friend! Paula fought her courageous and difficult cancer journey privately. With only a few knowing something and fewer knowing everything. In what was just over 2 months she went from diagnosis to dying at 54 years old. Paula was so creative in many ways including making cards and amazing bird sounds. Paula was passionate about patient care and safety. As a RN of 32 years, you could truly randomly drop her in any situation, and she could command the moment, provide for patients, and make those around her better. She has left a legacy on nursing in both the Premier and Kettering networks. She recently worked as an Administrative Officer at Atrium Medical Center and Resource RN in PACU at Kettering Main. As Administrative Officer Paula was a human fire extinguisher and a seamstress (she put out fires when needed and helped sew the seams together wherever needed). Paula loved being a mentor and preceptor. She left a legacy in Nursing on both Networks by leading and mentoring so many other staff. She was proud of her accomplishments and yet so very private. She was vital to designing the inpatient rooms of the HV tower at MVH while being the CTCU Nurse manger.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Paula's memory to SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center by visiting www.sicsa.org/individual-giving
The family hopes those who would like to honor her will find a quiet time to remember who she was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together. In lieu of a public funeral service, individual families are encouraged to have their own private memorial.
