Paul Edward Nestor

Paul Edward Nestor, aged 97, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025. Cherished father of Michael (Julia) Nestor and Mira (Jim) Smith and adored grandfather of James (Hannah) Smith, Alec Smith, Jeremy Nestor, Haliey Nestor and Hunter Nestor and beloved brother of Dennis (Lila Jo) Nestor, Harry Nestor, Darl (Marlene ) Nestor, Betty Moran and Maxine (Robert) Smith. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Gloria Nestor, parents Waitman Parker (W.P.) and Flossie L. Nestor; daughter Sharon Nestor; grandson Justin Nestor and brothers Harold R. Nestor and J. Ross Nestor. 

Paul was born on February 2, 1928 in Rowlesburg, WV. He graduated from Rowlesburg High School in 1946. He met the love of his life Gloria and they married on April 16, 1955.

After graduation from high school, Paul began employment with the B&O Railroad as a heavy equipment operator, until 1952, when he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Korea, in the 21st Ordnance Co., performing repair and calibration of optical and artillery instruments. 

Upon his discharge from the Army, he moved to Ohio with Gloria and worked for the National Cash Register (NCR) for 20 years on assembly and adjustment of business machines and US Air Force bomber and tracking computers.

He had a passion for woodworking and making jewelry from natural gemstones. He would spend months crafting the perfect piece of furniture and turned every family vacation into a rock-hunting trip.

He enjoyed traveling and his favorite trips were to Israel and Peru. He and Gloria served on many mission trips with their home church, Washington Heights Baptist Church, where they were active members for over 60 years.

Public visitation will be held at Washington Heights Baptist Church (5650 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45429) on Friday February 28, 2025 at 11:00 am with funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm. He will be laid to rest next to Gloria at David's Cemetery.
