Paul E. Leonard a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away from complications of cancer on March 8, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 91. Born on December 3, 1933, in Piketon, Ohio, Paul lived a life dedicated to both his family and his career, retiring after over 40 years of service at General Motors.
Paul was known for his hard-working nature and devotion to his family. He took pride in his work and brought the same dedication into his home life, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones. His kindhearted spirit and genuine love for those around him were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Outside of his professional life, Paul found joy in his hobbies and interests. He loved to hunt and would often attend local fish fries with family and friends. He had a fondness for enjoying a cold Bud Light and indulging in delicious strawberry malts that brought a smile to his face.
Paul's family includes his beloved children, Debbie Leonard, Beverly Galloway, Donna Leiter, Peggy Smith, and Jeff Leonard. He also leaves behind his siblings, Art, Charlie (Joyce), Terry (Alveda), Barb, Jennie (Danny), and Wilma, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Notably, he was a great-great-grandfather to Gabe and treasured the companionship of his loyal canine friend, Duke, along with his beloved cat, Beef.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joann Leonard, who remains in the hearts of his family, alongside his parents, David and Ernestine Leonard, and his son, James R. Smith. His sister, Marilyn, also preceded him.
A viewing will be held on March 14, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. This will be followed by a graveside service at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, 11890 North Dixie Drive, Tipp City, OH 45371, at 12:15 PM.
Paul E. Leonard's loving nature and dedication to his family and friends will always be remembered by those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and fond memories that will forever be cherished.
