PAUL E. MARCUM, JR.
Age 55, of Dayton passed away Monday, April 11 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Anu Kolossova, his parents, Paul and Mary Marcum Sr. of Kettering, sisters, Deborah Marcum of Dayton, Tara (Jeff) King of Oakwood, Kim (Scott) Gearhart of Kettering, daughters Stacy (Richard) Stiles of Xenia,Stephanie Marcum of Kettering, Shari (Gary) Harshbarger of Bellbrook, Emily Blakely of Columbus and a son Brian (Stephanie) Blakely of Columbus. Also surviving Paul are Tene Kolossova and Janne (Heiki) Orav of Estonia. Paul also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kimberly, Gary Jr. and Shelby Harshbarger, Austin Marcum, Norah Stiles, Matthew Blakely, Holger and Henry Orav and uncle: Bill (Marilyn) Hilty of Lyons, CO. Paul was an electrician by trade but was very talented in all things construction, from personal projects at home to major corporate construction plans. In recent years, he was a lead consultant for Kettering City Schools and for Orlando Lutheran Towers. He was very proud of his contributions in the creation and building of the beautiful James S. Trent Arena, Roush Stadium and most recently, the development of several new schools for the City of Kettering. Paul was a member of Greenmont Oak Park Community Church, Millenium Lodge #779 of the F. & A.M. and was proud of the time he served as a volunteer firefighter with Kettering Fire Department during the 1980ʻs. He was a talented outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. He had a great sense of humor and was the life of any party. Paul will be sadly missed but his life will be remembered in celebration. A memorial service will be held at 4PM on Wednesday, April 20 at Greenmont Oak Park Community Church in Kettering with Rev. Greg King officiating. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service from 5:30 to 8PM. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
