DeHart, Paul E. Sr., age 84, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Paul was a Captain in the Army Air Corps 412th Fighter Pilot Squadron proudly serving during WWII. He was a retired ironworker from Ironworkers Local #290 in Dayton, and a lifetime member of the VFW Middletown Post and the NRA. Paul had a great love for working land in his gardens, fruit trees, nut trees, grapes, and making wine.
Paul is survived by his wife: Mary Margaretta (Britt) DeHart; sons and daughters-in-law: Paul Edward DeHart Jr. (Diane) of Royal Palm Beach, FL, David Allen DeHart (Leslie) of Franklin, James Michael DeHart (Jeannie) of Franklin; daughters and son-in-law: Jayna LeAnn Hoppel (Fred) of Miamisburg, Susan Elaine DeHart of Franklin; step son: Finney Britt of Franklin; step daughters: Cheri Craig (Steven) of Dayton, Jeannie Hilton of Port Charlotte, FL, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brothers: Thomas DeHart (Violet) of Franklin, Eugene DeHart (Linda) of Franklin, sister: Patricia Lanum of Eustes, FL; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas & Mary (Halsey) DeHart and brother: Carl DeHart.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering with Reverend Brad Martin officiating. Interment will follow the service at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
