Patrick Beckermann

July 28, 1952 — December 18, 2023

Pat Beckermann, age 71 of Centerville, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023. He was born July 28, 1952 in Melrose, Minnesota the son of the late Ed and Rose Beckermann. Pat graduated from Metropolitan State University and earned his Teaching Certification from Wright State University. He was a passionate educator and was most recently a teacher at Magsig Middle School. Pat loved teaching and mentoring his students. Pat started a chess club teaching his students about chess, being a good sport and proper etiquette. It was one of the most popular clubs in the school. He was a coach of the Science Olympiad team that took 4th in the Nation.

Pat was a member of the Dayton Canoe Club and the Centerville Noon Optimists. He loved to surround himself with nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed photography, hiking, camping, cross country skiing, fishing, canoeing, and for a time, hunting. After he stopped hunting he became the camp cook for decades with the same group of hunters. He loved working with his hands. He, along with the help of friends, restored a vintage BN Morris canoe. When he was no longer able to canoe, he donated the canoe to the Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum.
Pat was passionate about glass and glasswork. As an accomplished artist he worked in stained glass, fused glass, and blown glass and his works of art are scattered throughout the country. He was humble, kind and a gentle soul who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was generous with his time and talents. When a good friend died, he turned his grief into a positive by establishing a scholarship in his friend's name. He was generous to the end as he donated his body to the Wright State University Anatomical Gift Program at the Boonshoft School of Medicine so medical students are able to learn from him. Pat impacted many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.

Patrick is survived by his wife Carleen Beckerman; Brothers, Vern (Sue) Beckermann, Joe (Joyce) Beckermann, Harv (Vicki) Beckermann, Fr.
