Patricia Louise Tripp, a devoted Registered Nurse and cherished member of her community, gracefully departed this world on March 1, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 92. Born on December 30, 1932, in Sidney, Ohio, Pat's life was marked by a deep commitment to both her profession and her family, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to know her.
Her illustrious career as a Registered Nurse spanned more than four decades, showcasing her unwavering dedication and compassion for others. Beginning her journey at WPAFB Hospital, Pat subsequently lent her expertise at Planned Parenthood and the Dayton Women's Health Center. Ultimately, she retired from the Dayton VA Medical Center, having served countless patients with grace and professionalism. Throughout her distinguished career, she graced many hospitals in the Dayton area with her strong, straightforward demeanor and profound knowledge.
Pat's educational pursuits began at Sidney High School, where she graduated as part of the Class of 1950, before heading to the Lincoln School for Nurses in Bronx, New York. It was here that she cultivated not only her medical skills but also a lifelong passion for helping others, a trait that would crystallize in her relationships both personally and professionally. She was known as the go-to person for advice among her friends and family, a role she filled with remarkable insight and kindness.
Beyond her professional accolades, Pat was a woman of many interests and joys. An avid sports enthusiast, she relished watching tennis, track and field, football, and basketball. In quieter moments, she found pleasure in playing cards and indulged her love for numbers through calculating and investing. Her passion extended beyond her own financial dealings, as she took joy in assisting others with their investments and taxes, always eager to lend a helping hand.
Pat is survived by her beloved children, Tracey Edwards, Timothy Tripp (Alicia), and David Tripp; her grandchildren, Danielle Brice (Huston), Courtney Edwards, Erica Edwards, David Tripp Jr., Amanda Tripp, and Anthony Tripp; as well as four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Debra Davenport, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, including her special niece, Karen Brown-Matlock. Each of these individuals carries forward the legacy of love, care, and guidance that Pat instilled in her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, George Jr. and Ruby Brown; her devoted husband, Thomas Tripp Jr.; and her siblings, Jerry Brown, Freda Garrett, Howard Brown, Thomas Brown, and Betty Taylor. Their memories will forever remain with those who cherish them, and Pat's spirit will undoubtedly continue to bless her family and friends.
Visitation to honor Pat's life will take place from 10:30-11:30 am on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where her Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:30 AM. Pat will be laid to rest with her husband at 1:00 pm at Dayton National Cemetery.
