Patricia Schlaerth, age 80, of Vandalia, passed away January 25, 2024 at her home, surrounded by family.
Throughout her life, Patricia demonstrated tremendous compassion, patience and kindness. She was born March 11, 1943 in Buffalo, NY to the late Anthony & Ellen Vallee.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Schlaerth.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Michael Schlaerth and Elaine Zamonski; daughter and son-in-law: Amy and Derek Albert; 5 grandchildren: Sydney, Ethan, Veronica, Katherine and Mira; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Thomas Uebler; sister-in-law, Deborah Kaufman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The most important thing in Patricia's life was her family. She was a constant source of strength and comfort to them, and they in turn strengthened and comforted her.
Patricia graduated from Holy Angels Academy and D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. She received her Masters Degree from Wright State University. Pat served as a social worker at United Cerebral Palsy (United Rehabilitation Services), a counselor with handicapped student services at Wright State, as well as a counselor for adult students looking to complete their education at Sinclair College.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge Street, Dayton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pat's memory to The Hospice of Dayton, Ohio.
