Patricia J. Riggs

Patricia J. Riggs, age 62 of Xenia, OH passed away peacefully Saturday, December 8, 2018. She was born May 4, 1956 in Okinawa, Japan to James and Rita (Weir) Morris. She married Larry Riggs on August 18, 1979 in Fairborn, OH.

Patty graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1974 and earned her Bachelor's and Master's degree from Wright State University. She taught first grade at Shaw Elementary in Beavercreek for over 25 years, previously teaching Special Education in Middletown and Cedarville. Patty had a passion for teaching and influenced many lives throughout her career. She truly enjoyed her work, and it was evident from all the time and energy she put into it. Patty had many friends and family whom she enjoyed socializing with often. She lived life to the fullest and touched their lives in a positive way. She loved her children and enjoyed being "Gaga" (grandmother) to her grandchildren. She was very involved in all their lives. Her husband, Larry, she adored. She was his biggest supporter and best friend.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 39 years, Larry; a daughter, Emily (Nathanael) Dunlavy; a son, Grant (Lydia) Riggs; three grandchildren, Hannah, Gabriel and Graham; a brother, James "Jim" (Heather) Morris; and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Michael and Tom Morris.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday December 15, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn.
