Patricia Matthews, 85, of Huber Heights went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton.
Patricia was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on February 8, 1931 to the late Lorin and Rachel Gadd. She grew up in Newcomerstown Ohio, and graduated from Newcomerstown High School. She furthered her education at the Coshocton Business College, Coshocton, Ohio and the H&R Block Federal Tax School. She loved the ocean and enjoyed 10 years of retirement in Daytona Beach, Florida, before returning to Huber Heights, Ohio.
Patricia worked as Tax Administrator for the Village of Newcomerstown and as Assistant Tax Administrator for the City of Dover, from which she retired after many years of service. She continued work at the Crown Plaza in Dayton as a Switchboard Operator, Business Office Clerk, and Executive Lounge Hostess. She also worked as an office clerk at Michael "C" Construction in Daytona Beach, FL.
She attended and volunteered at Christian Life Center of Vandalia. She was an active member of Amvets Post #464 of Huber Heights. She was also a member of the Moose Chapter 539 and the Lady Elks of Dover, Ohio; Fraternal Order of Eagles #4401 of Daytona Beach, Florida; the VFW and the American Legion Auxiliary of Newcomerstown, Ohio.
In her free time she enjoyed dancing, reading, swimming, lifeguarding, Polar Bear Club, and teaching water safety. She loved spending time with her family and friends and loving dog Missy. She was well known for her loving hugs.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her loving brother, Gary Gadd; loving son, Richard Tidrick; and her loving husbands, Herb Floyd, Dean Tidrick, Bob Finnicum, and Clyde Matthews.
She is survived by her sons, Herb (Lawissa) Tidrick, David Tidrick; daughters, Dean'na (Quentin Sergeant) Fisher, Patrice (Matthew) Wagner; grandchildren, Tarl, Terry, Kelly, Kerrie, Cameron, Conner, Tom, Matt, Rachael, Sarah, Laura, Chris, Andy; great grandchildren, Brice, Kaitlyn, Gavin, Logan, Thad, Savannah, Brody, Colton, Mia; sister-in-laws, Nancy Gadd, Doris Wilson; "sister" Ann Morrow; ex-husband, Ray McConnell; and many other relatives and special friends.
Memorial service will be held at Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Road, Vandalia Ohio 45414 on November 19, 2016 at 12pm with reception immediately following the service at the church. A Celebration of Life with the Sprinkling of Ashes will be held at Crabby Joe's of Daytona Beach, Florida at a later date. No graveside services will be held, but a headstone is in place at North Salem Community Cemetery in Kimbolton, Ohio.
