Patricia L. Kunk

KUNK, Patricia L. (Calhoun) age 63, of West Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Strong in heart and always bearing a smile of appreciation, Patricia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend. After graduating from St. Rita Nursing School in Lima, Ohio, Pat worked as an ICU nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 20 years, where she was also an instructor in the department of paramedic education. Professionally, she was a tremendous caregiver and educator. Patricia is survived by her husband of 10 years, Michael J. Kunk; son, Scott Michael Calhoun; grandchildren, Avery and Fern Calhoun; mother, Jacqueline Maynard Haines; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry & Shirley Kunk; sister-in-law, Kathy Alcorn; special friends, Jo Warnke, Linda Stanchina, Maxene Miller, Anne Boyd, Shirley Foreman and numerous others. Preceded in death by her father, Arnett Russell Calhoun and Brother, William Franklin Calhoun. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. The Reverend John E. Kidd and Chaplain Mark Meyer will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 pm until service begins. Final resting place will be Franklin, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pat's memory to either the American Cancer Society or Upshaw A.M.E. Church, where Pat was a member. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
